Healing for Trauma and Complex Trauma

At Heal(ing), we understand that transformation is always a work in progress, and we believe that all healing is possible. We know that life is full of challenges, and sometimes we need help shaping struggles into successes. We don't pathologize or judge experiences of anxiety, depression, addiction or other mental health symptoms but instead seek to understand them as manifestations and developments created from trauma. We offer specialized treatment for trauma including trauma-informed psychotherapy, personal wellness practices, and psychoeducation about mental health issues to guide you towards meaningful positive change. We also offer coaching because sometimes we just need help getting out of our own way so we can journey easier towards our goals. Our mission is to help people heal and thrive, no matter what has happened to them in life. Click here to learn more about us.

Wellness Practices

We have discovered that trauma almost always results in dysregulation and somatic symptoms felt in the body. While talk-therapy is impactful, it is sometimes not enough on its own to re-establish safety, security, and stability. We offer  holistic care that embraces the connection between the mind and body through use of various research established practices and through our vetted network of wellness practitioners.

psychoeducation

Psychoeducation

We know that awareness is the first step towards creating meaningful, lasting,  positive change. In a world full of information, it can be hard to know where to look and who to listen to. We share evidence-based mental health and wellness information through newsletters,  blogs, webinars, livestreams, and social media posts because empowering individuals means providing them with the knowledge they need.

01

Our Therapeutic Process

IMPROVE DAILY LIVING

Trauma is easily recognizable as dysregulation because it disrupts our ability to function in our day-to-day life. We know that in order to do the more complex trauma work, you first need to have a solid foundation to rely upon. Helping you build your pillars of health: sleep, nutrition, hydration, movement, and socialization means you will have the expanded capacity to take on the more challenging work involved with coping effectively and processing.

02

DEVELOP HEALTHIER COPING

Developing healthier coping skills is an important towards improving your mental, emotional, and physical well-being. Learning what tools are available and how to use them, allows you to consistently deal with life's challenges in helpful and effective ways, and break free of reactive responses that no longer benefit you.

03

PROCESS UNRESOLVED TRAUMA

Unresolved trauma can have a significant impact on our mental, emotional, and physical well-being. However, by processing it, we can gain greater control over our thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, decreasing our triggers and need for constant coping. When we process our trauma, we release it and are finally able to move forward without the weight of our past experiences holding us down.

Our Therapists

The relationship between therapist and client is sacred, and is the largest determinant of success in therapy. Our experienced trauma therapists strive to create safe and secure relationships with each client, embodying compassion and understanding, so that you feel at ease sharing  your experiences and expressing yourself throughout your healing journey.

Our Philosophy

At Heal(ing), we believe that your life is not a problem to be solved, it is to be lived, the past is just that and the future is whatever you want it to be.

While your trauma was not your fault, healing from it is your responsibility. What we don't transform we will inevitably transmit.

Healing is a process, not an outcome.
